Are You Afraid...

of public speaking or other performance situations, or do you tend to avoid most social situations? These could be signs of social anxiety disorder, which may have life time prevalence of 12%.
It typically starts in teenage years. Could you have a child with this common, impairing, unrecognized and potentially treatable problem? There is a good article on social anxiety disorder published in September 7, 2006 issue of New England Journal of Medicine.
